Toledo is a beautiful city full of history. It was the capital of Spain and it is known as the city of the three cultures. It has a rich past.
Today, January 10th, Antena 3 starts a new serie, TOLEDO. It is in Spanish. It is fiction but is supposed to cover a lot of cultural facts about life during those times.
You might be interested in taking a look.

History ... La Republica
One of the best ways to know a people is trhough its history. I find myself looking for novels that can be also entertaining. I love movies and series as well.
TVE will have a special novel style series called La Republica. It is supposed to be a love story during those history episodes. It says it will cover that moment in history very well.
It looks really entertaining and good in quality. It is a sequel to La Señora that was very good as well, a period before. You can still watch it on this same link. What they call TVE a la Carta.
So, I am not totally recommending this as a learning tool but it can become one, as we saw in Cuentame como Pasó. We will have to wait and see. Please post your comments. It can be part of your listening and comprehension activity, even if it is not as informative on the historical and cultural side.
It starts this Friday as ¨preestreno¨. The normal episodes will be each Monday at 22 hrs. Follow the link for more information:

Sacalalengua
The other day watching TV late at night I came across this show at channel La 1. It is interesting as they do special reports on different things and then work on the specific vocabulary labeling the works as they come up. The day I watched it was on animals in the protected areas and they would do scientific explanations on things and would show the words and explain them. Good show for middle to advanced level.

Cuéntame
If you want to learn the recent history of Spain (Franco era to nowadays) in a fun way, I recommend this show. It is on "La 1". Not sure in which day it is right now but I believe they are in the 80's or 90's right now. It shows the lifestyle during and pos dictadorship. It is secular, so be ready. You can find the DVD collection on Ebay Spain for purchase or at your local lybrary. They had taken from regular stores when I tried to find it. I have the first season and would be glad to let anyone borrow it for a few days.

Pasa Palabras
Hello language learners ... I love this show on Telecinco every evening at 8:15 that is called "Pasapalabras". It is hard but very intertaining and I end up learning a word or 2 everytime I have an occasion to watch it. I would say it is intermediate-advanced levels but you may be surprised to find words you may know!
Just a word from a fan of this show.
Watch it and let us know your opinion!
